Lynn Oliver Garvin

I began as a substitute teacher (elementary) in California while Charlie was in Medical School at U.S.C., then switched to a retail job, completing the executive training program for a major department store chain. After 5 years, we moved back to Ohio so Charlie could complete his residency program in Ophthalmology at Ohio State University. I’ve dedicated my time since 1978 to community volunteer work and to our family of three children. I’ve spent the last 28 years as a board member at Ohio State University at Marion Ohio, a very rewarding experience. I’m also very active at our local Methodist Church, serving 12 years as chair of our church council. I was active in the very successful music departments of our local schools and State volunteer of the year in Ohio PTA.

I think of our freshman year where all of us from the 4th floor of Smith Hall gathered most every night in the hallway discussing our day and eating popcorn. We learned and changed so much in that first year! It was the last year of breaking curfew and visitation rules.
My favorite memory of OWU is the night I met my husband, when the sig eps had a TGIF party with the Thetas our junior year.
