In Memory

Kristan Coryell

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden loss of a special person, Kris Coryell, who passed away on June 29, 2023, at the age of 72. Kris was a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend. She lived her life helping others as an active member of her community, leaving behind a void that will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved her. Predeceased by her parents, Dr. Gordon and Mabel Coryell, she is survived by her two sons, Ben (Marlena) Jesmer and Adam Jesmer; her brother, Todd (Judy) Coryell; her cat Rudy; as well as nieces, nephews, and a vast circle of friends. Kris had an exceptional capacity for friendship. However, Kris’s foremost priority was her boys. She loved them deeply and never wavered when putting their happiness ahead of her own. Born and raised in East Rochester, Kris attended LaSalle and Ohio Wesleyan College. She went on to graduate school at Syracuse University and achieved her MSW. She successfully practiced in the social services profession for most of her adult life. She loved music and dancing and going to concerts with her friends. Her other hobbies included jewelry making, skiing, gardening, and swimming at the lake. She felt the most joy when spending time at her family’s cottage and was never hesitant to share that joy with others. Never one to miss a sunset, the lake is where she created lasting memories with her family and friends. In this time of mourning, may we remember Kris Coryell as a person of caring, independence, kindness, and love. Her spirit will forever live in our hearts. May her family and friends find solace in her everlasting love knowing Kris has found the perfect sunset and is patiently waiting to share. Kris’s Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 5 - 7:30pm at the Harloff Funeral Home, 803 S. Washington Street, E. Rochester. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Alliance on Mental Illness– Finger Lakes Chapter or the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association.
