Plain Dealer, The (Cleveland, OH) - Thursday, February 13, 1997--Timothy M. Rawlings, a former St. Edward High School teacher and coach, had been the vice president of the Personal Leasing Co., a Cleveland automobile leasing firm, since 1990.
He taught biology and coached football at St. Ed's from 1973 until 1978, when he became manager of Leaseway's Bejin Trucking Division in Detroit.
In 1986, Leaseway transferred him to Solon to manage the Chrysler Parts Terminal. He had worked for Ryder Distribution Services of Solon before joining Personal Leasing.
Mr. Rawlings, 45, of Walton Hills, died of complications of cancer Monday at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital.
The Berea native and former North Olmsted resident graduated from St. Edward High School in 1969. In 1973, he earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and moved to Westlake.
After settling in Walton Hills in 1986, he coached soccer and baseball in the recreational sports programs in Bedford. He prepared himself for training his players by studying every publication he could find about youth sports.
He also became involved in Catholic Youth Organization athletics, serving as a board member and athletic director for St. Mary Catholic Church of Bedford. Because his parish did not have a football team, he coached football for St. Barnabas Church.
Mr. Rawlings was a member of the St. Edward Alumni Association Hall of Fame Committee. He also belonged to the Walton Hills Men's Club and the Independence Chamber of Commerce.
He was the regional vice president of the Ohio Vehicle Leasing Association and served on the board of the National Vehicle Lease Association.
Survivors include his wife, Janet E.; sons, David and Daniel, both at home; daughter, Heather at home; mother, Joan M. of North Olmsted; five brothers; and a sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 4242 Brendan Lane, North Olmsted. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward High School, 13500 Detroit Ave., Lakewood 44107-4697. Arrangements are by McGorray Bros. Funeral Home of Lakewood.
