Katharine Mayo Parker, 58, died Aug. 17, 2010, at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu.
She was born Dec. 20, 1951, in New Haven, Conn. She grew up in Cheshire Conn., graduating from Cheshire High School in 1969.
After attending Ohio Wesleyan University, she graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in fine arts.
Katharine was a free spirit being interested in art, music, dance and people of the world. She studied dance with Anna Helprin of San Francisco.
In her adult life she lived in Oregon, California, Connecticut, Vermont and Hawaii.
She traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico as well as Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand and various Pacific islands. Katharine was a voracious reader.
She is survived by her sister, Lucie P. Osborn (Harry) of Cheyenne; and brother, Palmer (Welton) Parker (Katie) of Eugene, Ore.; as well as her aunt, Eleanor Adams; cousin, Kevin Roberts of Guilford, Vt.; and friends, Joan Derbyshire of Hilo, Hawaii, and Indra Stern; and goddaughter, Jennifer of Springfield, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Welton Parker.
As she wished, her body has gone to the University of Hawaii for the study of medicine.
