In Memory

Jeanne P. Boyce (Morrison)

Jeanne died June 1, 1992.

Jeanne Boyce Morrison once said she believed people “only grow when they are stretched.”

And although the 40-year-old mother of two was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall, she continued to live by her words—most recently by being elected president of the Junior League of Cincinnati.

It is a post she will never fill. Mrs. Morrison, of Hyde Park, died of cancer Sunday, said her husband, Russ.

When Mrs. Morrison was not working as a manager of school programs in Procter & Gamble Co.’s professional affairs division, she was volunteering for several community groups—serving largely as a role model for young women interested in business. Or she was with her family or running three miles every other day.

Her husband said she was once quoted as saying; “I am constantly looking for opportunities to grow.”

And he said, “That’s how she was. She had a lot of passion and a lot of commitment.”

The Morrisons moved to Cincinnati in 1979, after she earned a master’s degree in business administration from Emory University in Atlanta, to join P&G. Soon afterward, she began her extensive volunteerism, he said.

Mrs. Morrison worked with Project Business for Junior Achievement and held numerous leadership positions with the Junior League, many of which pertained to marketing the group’s programs. More recently she became active in the group’s administration and long-range planning.

Also surviving are a daughter, Kimberly; a son, Matthew; her parents, William and Marilyn Boyce, Fountain Hills, Ariz.; and a brother, Steven Boyce, St. Petersburg, Fla.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Junior League’s Columbia Center, Delta Avenue and Columbia Parkway.

Because of her commitment to education, a foundation administered by the Junior League of Cincinnati has been established in Mrs. Morrison’s name.

Memorials can be made to the Jeanne Boyce Morrison Leadership Development Foundation, in care of the Junior League of Cincinnati, 3500 Columbia Parkway, Cincinnati 45226.
