Maurice Gethers was born 25 November 1951 in Atlantic City, NJ. He received a $2,000 scholarship from OWU to attend a summer school program during his junior year in high school. He attended OWU several years. On 23 December 1973, he married Leula Tzeggai in Delaware, Ohio. He enlisted in the Air Force on 15 January 1976 and died on 25 February 1978 in Hammonton, New Jersey with the rank of sergeant. The cause of death was listed as unknown (but not battle related). He is buried in Northwood Cemetery in Philadelphia.
