Prof. Michael S. Frazier, of Buffalo, N.Y. Seated by the Buffalo State College, Performing Arts Dept. Vocalist and instructor of choral music. Active in organizing school and community choral groups. He was the subject of 1980 P.B.S. Special and a former host of a Columbus television program (Profiles in Black Music). Received his bachelor degree in music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, 1973 and a master degree from Miami University, 1976. Minister of music at the Calvary Tremont Baptist Church of Columbus, under Rev. W.J. Payden. In Buffalo, he directed a concert and gospel choirs, taught all vocal techniques. He was a baritone soloist and ensemble vocalist in concerts at church and universities in the Tri-State area and Tennessee. He performed in productions of Handel’s “Messiah”, Mozart’s “Requiem”, and “Jesus Christ Superstar”. He also sang with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in 1974. He was a founder and director of several vocal ensembles. Active member of National Association of Negro Musicians. Conducted workshops in Black Music featuring Black artists. Former teacher at Linden-McKinley High School and East High School. Husband of Jacqueline; father of Michael Simeon-Ross, Michael Brandon Frazier, Michelle Renee, and Michelle Danielle Frazier, son of Jack C. Frazier (deceased) and Vivian Frazier, 1365 E. Rich St.; brother of Jack C, Jr., Phillip A Frazier, Ronald Frazier (deceased), Barbara Reese and Diantha Freeman (George); grandson of Mrs. Milton (Erma) Pryor; uncle of Michael K Wright, George G. Freeman, George R. Reese, Lynett Scott and Staci G. Freeman; son-in-law of Irene Butler, Atlanta, Ga., Robert Butler, 1220 Madison Ave. Columbus; a number of other relatives, friends and colleagues survive. Family will receive friends Thursday 7-9 p.m. only at the Brooks Funeral Home, 2154 E. Main St. at Parkview. Service in memory honoring Michael, Friday, July 2, 1982, Trinity Baptist Church, Atcheson and St. Clair Aves. Rev. E.A. Parham will be the officiant, assisted by other ministers.
