Kerry Jean Thomsen (Dewey)

 

Kerry Dewey, 56, of Missoula, Montana, died March 10, 2008, after a long struggle with breast cancer. She was born March 20, 1951, in Toledo, to Herman and Dorothy Thomsen. 

She attended Roy C. Start High School and graduated from the University of Toledo with bachelors and masters degrees in education. She married Ernest Dewey (DeVilbiss) in 1971. She taught at St. Ursula Academy in Toledo, Midwest High School in Midwest, WY, as well as in Beaverton, OR and in Missoula, MT. She coached forensics and her Midwest Wyoming High School teams won the Wyoming state speech championship two consecutive years. 

Kerry is survived by her husband, Ernest R. Dewey; children, Capt. Seth E. Dewey USMC and wife, Marika of Stafford, VA and daughter, Megan C. Dewey of Missoula; sister, Christy Thomsen of Rockville, MD and brother, Kurt Thomsen (Debra) of Decatur, AL; in-laws, Helen Dewey of Missoula, Fred Dewey (Mary Ellen Ashton) of Anchorage, and Jim Dewey (Melanie Gangle) of Camas, WA; aunt, Elizabeth Thomsen and cousins, Beth Thomsen, James Thomsen and Kathleen Casey of Toledo; and aunt, Helen Allinson and cousin, Robert Allinson of Deland, FL. Kerry was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Dorothy Thomsen; nephew, Kevin Thomsen, and father-in-law, Ernest W. Dewey.
